The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, continues on Thursday, October 1, 2015 with an exciting lineup of events on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
This Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., ArtSLAM will feature various artwork from local artists, pumpkin carving demonstrations from Masterpiece Pumpkins, and an exhibit highlighting works from Cal Arts Costume Design program. At 7:30 p.m., attendees can participate in the Argentine tango at JAM Sessions, hosted by Ford Theatre Foundation. Oxygen Tango will teach the steps and movements of the unique social dance.
Revved Up on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature unique, novelty, wacky, one-of-a-kind and one-hit-wonder automobiles, such as a DeLorean, a Gremlin, Santa’s Sleigh, and a car with two front ends. Local residents interested in submitting an Oddball Car for consideration in Revved Up can apply online.
Residents can show off team spirit for a Sports of All Sorts themed block party with SENSES on Thursday, October 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Participants can play a sport or two, represent their favorite team and enjoy the “Ultimate Tribute to the Legends of Rock” with The Skinny Little Twits. The October Thursdays@Newhall events finish on Thursday, October 22 with the ARTree Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership and the City of Santa Clarita, and SCVTV Presents The OutWest Concert Series.
From 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the ARTree Speaker Series will host California Institute of the Arts President Steven Lavine. Lavine will soon be retiring from his 29-year tenure as President and will share his story as the leader of the incredibly successful institution.
Meanwhile, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series with Blue Grass, New Grass and Americana Roots music from The Tom Corbett Band beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Repertory East Playhouse located at 24266 Main Street. Tickets can be purchased here.
