Santa Clarita Valley residents are invited to join the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for its annual Fun in the Sun Chili Cook Off next month in Castaic.
“The event traditionally draws thousands of people from throughout Southern California who come to enjoy the mouth-watering, taste-tantalizing entries in the chili competition,” said Sheriff Jim McDonnell.
This year’s Chili Cook Off will feature more than 25 chili competitors, as well as a Kid’s Zone, food and drink vendors, live music, games, retail vendors, a classic car show, military displays and LASD Department displays.
The LASD encourages people to purchase a “Chili Card,” which is $10 to taste all of the chilis and $5 to taste six of the chilis.
In addition to chili, hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available for purchase.
Kid’s Zone activities, margaritas and beers can be purchased using tickets available at the main gate and other locations throughout
Tickets are $1 each, or $10 for 11 tickets at the main gate.
The Chili Cook Off will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pitchess Detention Center Jack Bones Equestrian Center, located at 26983 Tapia Canyon Road in Castaic.
All proceeds from the Chili Cook Off benefit the Special Olympics Santa Clarita and Tri-Valley Regions.
