Peter Lambert tossed eight strong innings, but the San Jose Giants came from behind to knock off the JetHawks, 4-2, in the rubber game of the series on Thursday night at The Hangar.

The eight innings marked a career-high for Lambert (3-4). The 20-year-old right-hander from San Dimas also became the first JetHawk to pitch more than seven innings this season. He allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The JetHawks struck first and scored their only two runs of the game in the third inning. After San Jose starter Matt Krook retired the first six batters he faced, the left-hander issued a leadoff walk to Mylz Jones. Hamlet Marte followed with a single to move Jones to third.

Wilson Soriano was next and dropped down a safety squeeze bunt up the first base line to bring home Jones. With two out in the frame, Brendan Rodgers delivered an RBI single. Rodgers tallied three of the four hits in the game for the JetHawks.

The Giants got on the board in the sixth inning against Lambert. T.J. Bennett led off with a triple and scored when Ryan Howard grounded out to short.

Heath Quinn tied the game with a solo homer to open the seventh on an 0-2 pitch from Lambert. He now has three home runs in 10 games with the Giants this season. With one out, Gio Brusa singled. Jonah Arenado followed with a double and Brusa attempted to score from first base, but the JetHawks executed a perfect relay to cut him down at the plate and keep the game tied.

With two out and Arenado at third, Matt Winn hit a routine grounder to short. Rodgers fielded it cleanly, but first baseman Brian Mundell dropped the throw to allow Arenado to score the go-ahead run. Arenado blasted a solo homer in the ninth inning to provide San Jose with a big insurance run.

Krook (1-6) picked up the win for the Giants. He tossed six innings and allowed two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out one. Carlos Diaz followed with two scoreless innings of relief and Ryan Halstead struck out a pair in a perfect ninth inning to earn his seventh save in as many opportunities.

The series win for San Jose marked the first time the Giants have won a series in Lancaster since August 2011 when they swept a four-game set.

The JetHawks open a four-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino on Friday night at The Hangar. Right-hander Jesus Tinoco (2-0) will start for Lancaster against right-hander Luis Pena (2-4). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
