SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s basketball team continues to add to its roster with the recent signing of Chris Collins.
“I chose The Masters College because it provides a Christian input for everything that is taught,” commented Collins. “Also, The Master’s College men’s basketball team has a great family bond which I’m excited to be part of.”
The 6-6 power forward from the Cayman Islands crafted his athletic resume at Santa Clarita Christian School where he recently earned first-team All-Heritage League honors, All-CIF Second-Team kudos, and SCCS’s Men’s Basketball MVP award.
Looking forward, Collins has his eyes fixed on achieving a number of admirable goals.
“I want to become the best and most teachable player I can be,” said Collins. “With that being said, I want to win games and a championship, but I want it done as a team…a band of brothers who want that same goal.”
Affirming Collins’ aspirations, TMC men’s basketball head coach Ken Sugarman stated, “Chris will be a great addition to our young core of bigs. He is strong, rebounds the ball well, and can really score it in the post. I expect him to be a strong contributor to our program, and to The Master’s College community. I believe that he has the work ethic to become a special player, and I know that he will embrace all that TMC has to offer him.”
Sugarman expects Collins to aid the Mustangs at the crucial power forward position.
Last season, the Mustangs went 10-18 overall and 5-11 in conference play. Despite graduating five seniors, TMC’s returning roster includes a trove of young, talented players, who will soon be joined by this year’s recruiting class.
