- SCV’s Allyson Felix took home three gold medals from the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka.
Allyson Felix and Lauren Fleshman will represent the United States in the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held Aug. 27 to Sept. 4 in Daegu, South Korea.
The announcement came Wednesday from USA Track & Field, the national governing body of the sport.
Felix and Fleshman have been burning up the track since their high school days in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Felix, 25, is a three-time world champion in the 200-meter sprint. She took silver in the 200-m in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, and also won gold in Beijing as a member of the 4×400 relay team. This year she won the 400-m at the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships to become the first female ever to win national titles in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter in a career.
A reigning world champion, Felix will compete in Daegu in both the 200-meter and 400-meter races.

Fleshman wins the 5000-m Saturday in London.
Fleshman, 29, is a long-distance runner who will compete in the 5,000-meter event. She took first place in the discipline Saturday in the Aviva London Grand Prix.
Fleshman, who now lives in Oregon, ran for Team USA in 2004 and 2005. She has battled back from subsequent foot injuries that sidelined her for the entire 2009 season.
Fleshman also announced Wednesday that she will compete in the New York Marathon in November.
