As of Wednesday morning, the cause of death had not yet been determined.

Castro had been riding his skateboard eastbound across The Old Road at 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, when he was struck by a 2002 Honda travelling northbound on The Old Road, driven by Ranu Junprunh, 54, of Saugus, according to a CHP report.

Castro was ejected into the roadway and sustained major injuries. He was treated on scene and later transported to Henry Mayo.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

It is our job to look out for pedestrian/bicycle/boarder. When we choose to live in “family based communities”, this should be a priority.
He was a brother, a son, and a friend.
This is sad, but not uncommon in Awesome Town. My son was hit in a crosswalk, luckily minor injuries.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with hi family.

  3. Kim Hudson says:

This is so sad; I drove right by it on my way home from work. This is a bad intersection; folks speeding ALL the time. Had an accident two years ago at that very intersection where I was t-boned and my car pushed into oncoming traffic…a lady was speeding and it had just started to rain…lucky to still be here. My prayers are with his family.

  4. My son goes to school with him. He was very well liked, what a tragic thing to happen to such a young man. Our prayers are with you and your family. The Rodriguez Family. :(

  5. What a tragedy. My sincere thoughts, prayers and strength for his family.

  6. Such a young boy so heart breaking. My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends.

  7. Jenny Telis says:

  8. My son knows him and his sister, so very sad. It is a very dangerous area, we all need to slow down! There are always kids in that area.

  9. Rick Polanco says:

THEY NEED TO CHAGE THE SPEED LIMITS IN AND AROUND OUR TOWN!

  10. I know the family and my heart is breaking for them..so sad

  11. I BLAZED IT WITH U ONES WITH MY KUZIN IN CASTAIC R.I.P HOMIE

  12. John Gilbert says:

It’s also the pedestrians responsibility not to break the law and jaywalk.

  13. Sandy Pida says:

Is bad he is past away! But why he is skateboarding on the street he should knows better

  14. Donna Meyer says:

John Gilbert…you are absolutly one of the rudest people ive seen on facebook. You are heartless and … words are not even appropriate on here..

  15. Donna Meyer says:

John Gilbert…you know nothing. Its unfair for YOU to make any type of assumption. A boy is has died horribly. .and all you can do is act all mighty…pffft

  16. Kim Sloan says:

So sad. My heart goes out to his family.:-(

  24. Kyle Newman says:

Listen Donna Meyer, while this accident is truly tragic, this is scvtv an news channel with comment open for anyone. John Gilbert is absolutely right, both drivers and pedestrians need to obey traffic rules and watch out for each other. His comment was pragmatic and not offensive in anyway. Donna, you are the one acting self-righteous, have some respect.

  25. Aja Dave says:

John Gilbert does it really matter? he wasn’t jaywalking he was respecting the law. don’t you EVER disrespect him again. you’re extremely heartless and unfair. he died. everyone misses him and you think it’s appropriate to put that? NO! get off of this status unless you have something respectful to say.

  26. Jaxon says:

    He was drunk…

  27. Mike says:

A tragic reminder of why our laws exist. I was the driver of the car behind the car that hit him. I stopped and gave a full report to the emergency crew.

He tried to ride across the intersection through traffic. He thought he’d make it, but he didn’t. He died seeking a thrill, like so many others.

He didn’t deserve what happened to him, and I feel for his family and friends.

  28. kathyTarrant says:

Please emotions are running high. Lets not lose sight of the fact that every one involved in this will be forever changed. Albert you will be missed by so many. Loss of a young life is not how the circle of life is suppose to play out. As Albert left this world his pain left him and shifted his pain on to all those who love him and will always miss him. Your goal will be to make the difference in this world that Albert was going to make. Stand together in his honor. It is what will get you through this. Peace for the family is my wish.

  29. Ernie Duran says:

Sorry for the family on the loss, yet people tailgate each other & race once the light turns green. I guess gas prices aren’t an issue to some. Just because the speed limit in some areas are 55 doesn’t give you the right to exceed the limit.

  30. Wow i just drove by all of the flowers and balloons. Rest In Paradise.

  31. melisa says:

they are doing a fundraiser to help out with funeral u can go to facebook albert castro memorial fund

  32. Wendy says:

My daughter knew him and his girlfriend, this is very tragic. A young man has lost his life, a mother has lost her child, a young girl has lost a boyfriend and many people have lost a friend. Regardless of how it happened we all need to respect him and his family stop posting hateful things. I pray the family heals fast could not imagine loosing a child.
