[Carol Rock, AM-1220 KHTS] – A hazardous weather watch is in effect for the storm, which is expected to bring thunderstorms and hail before Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold storm system over the area has brought rain, with snow expected above 3,000 feet. Heavy snow is expected to increase in intensity today across the mountains, then fall tonight across the desert as the snow level drops to 2,500 feet across the interior parts of the area.

Highs today are expected in the low 50s, with temperatures dropping into the low 40s tonight. Rain is expected to continue into Tuesday.

Roadways and passes will be impacted with heavy snow and winter driving conditions (for county road closures, click here). Motorists are urged to take precautions and delay travel until conditions improve.

There is also a threat of thunderstorms bringing hail, brief heavy downpours, dangerous cloud-to-surface lightning and gusty and erratic winds.

[Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich] – Due to snow accumulation on county roadways, the Department of Public Works will close the following roadway segments before noon Monday:

– Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to SR-2 (Angeles Crest Highway)

– Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to SR-2

– Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Vogel Flats Road to Angeles Forest Highway.

Gates will be closed on Angeles Forest Highway at Aliso Canyon Road and SR-2 and both sides of Upper Big Tujunga. Gates on Big Tujunga Canyon Road will not be closed in order to allow anyone in the closed area a low elevation route out.

County road crews are working on major roadways which may also become impacted including Sierra Highway, Pearblossom Highway, Soledad Canyon Road, etc.

[L.A. County Dept. of Beaches and Harbors] – A beach advisory has been issued for White Point Beach located at 1799 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro, Sunday night through Tuesday in anticipation of a storm system moving across Southern California.

Beachgoers are advised to use extra caution and stay clear of the beach and adjacent terrain due to the potential for additional slide activity in the Paseo Del Mar landslide area.
