The Festival of Trees, in support of the Santa Clarita Boys and Girls Club, is running through Nov. 23 at the Westfield Valencia Town Center between The Patios and Sears. The professionally decorated trees, wreaths, stockings, centerpieces, and gingerbread houses are on display for the public and special events are going on throughout the festival.

At the center of the event are 45 full-size Christmas trees and 56 tabletop trees that are up for silent and live auction. Donated by organizations and individuals, the trees are decorated in a variety of themes including Dr. Seuss, princesses, Harry Potter, fairies, wine bottles, and Mardi Gras. All of holiday decorations and the donations accompanying some of them will be auctioned at the Magic of the Lights Gala on Saturday, Nov. 19.

KHTS’ own tree, a snowman themed display, is accompanied by a hutch, throw, and decorative items from Consumers Furniture. Designed by Nina DiValle, the white, blue, and glass vases and snowmen from Consumers Furniture turn the tree and display into a delightful Christmas scene while the hutch and decorative accessories will serve any home.

Funds raised during the festival will help the Santa Clarita Boys and Girls Club’s general operation costs. Specifically for the holidays, the club will help 12 families get a fully decorated tree and Christmas dinner through a $1000 sponsorship program.

“The club is opened extended hours [during the holidays] so while the kids do not have school to go to, many of them don’t have parents at home. The Boys and Girls Club ensures they have a positive place to go to during that time,” said Ronda Chobanian, the club’s Development Director.

While all of the decorative holiday items are carefully protected from inquisitive hands, there is a place at the festival for children. A magician offers entertainment for old and young and a children’s corner offers crafts and activities including cookie decorating and a chance to email Santa.

Admission is $6 for ages 15 and older, $3 for ages 4 to 14, $4 for seniors 65+, and free for children under 3.

The Holiday Hocus Pocus, one of the special events, will be a magic show for the whole family, telling a series of holiday stories that will amaze and delight the audience with magic and illusions and the magical appearance of a very special guest in the finale. The Hocus Pocus will take place Nov.  18 and doors open at 6:30 for close up magic acts, followed by the big production at 7:30 p.m.
