The Santa Clarita Ballet Company will be performing “The Nutcracker” this month, with public shows for the community and private shows for students of the Newhall School District.
Performances will be held at different times in the afternoon and evening on Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20 at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center. For a full list of times, click [here].
In addition to four public performances, Santa Clarita Ballet Company will host fourth grade students from Newhall School District on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 17 for two community outreach performances to educate local schoolchildren about the arts.
This year, ballet prodigy Anatalia Hordov, the 2015 Royal Academy of Dance Genee International Ballet Competition finalist, will dance as the Sugarplum Fairy.
Company members representing some of the most accomplished young dancers in Santa Clarita will perform principal roles. Saugus High School sophomore Brooke Stanke appears in her first lead role as main character Marie.
Sisters and Valencia High students Anna and Sofia Holzinger will literally dance through hoops in a newly choreographed and costumed Russian variation.
Santa Clarita Ballet Academy students round out the charming cast as mice, gumdrops, tree angels, toy soldiers and party girls.
