1849 - William Manly & John Rogers set out from Death Valley to find help for stranded Bennett-Arcan party [story]
W.L. Manly

The City of Santa Clarita is encouraging local residents to provide valuable input for the Master Development Plan of the new Canyon Country Community Center by attending a public workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, n the Community Room at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road.

Following the successful public engagement process for the proposed Canyon Country Community Center, the City will host a public workshop in order to discuss with residents their ideas about other amenities to be included in the Master Plan for the 6.5 acre site at Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.

The provided input will help guide the process determining the community’s needs and desires in relation to the opportunities and constraints of the property.

After a short introduction about the endeavor by the project architects, participants will be guided through a site awareness tour by staff and consultants. Following the tour, the workshop will reconvene in the Community Room for the discussion portion of the meeting.

For more information about the Canyon Country Community Center Master Development Plan, visit SantaClarita2020.com or contact Tom Reilly, Santa Clarita Park Development Administrator, at (661) 255-4394 or treilly@santa-clarita.com.

SCV is already over developed and over populated!

  2. There’s already too many people in Santa Clarita save the land, I’m sure Santa Clarita residents don’t care if it’s vacant

  3. Missy Gentry says:

How about no more houses and more family fun/children activities and shopping.

  4. R Alva Rez says:

I think they should do more activities, programs for kids. Especially during the Summer time. Summers are very hot out here and more indoor programs and activities are needed for kids.

  5. Mike Ostrom says:

Ask the people who live right there, next to that lot. They are the ones effected.

My office is across the street. Yes canyon country has a lot of things all ready but a chain restaurant would be a nice option along with gym that doesn’t change ownership every 2 months. Speaking of the gym by the library.

“No houses! We don’t have enough water. We dont want anymore building going here! Oh there is a possibility of a Cheesecake factory? Well yeah totally build that. But, nothing else!”

    • uh … No worries. They’re not going to put houses or a Cheesecake Factory in the community center building.

      • Travis Winn says:

OMG these replies are hilarious. I’m pretty sure those that replied ‘Cheesecake Factory’ or ‘no more development’ just saw the picture of the empty field and thought about their biggest pain concerning the community – or rather – what it is missing. With more youth and adults playing soccer than any other sport in the valley, some open to the public soccer fields?

    • Kory Abel says:

    • Kory Abel says:
