Foundation WiSH is proud to announce a grant from the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation in the amount of $10,000 which will fund Career Technical Education.
Teachers had contacted WiSH over a year ago looking for funding in their respective areas and WiSH was determined to assist by searching for applicable grants. The LA Clippers came through with this generous grant and to complete the funding of the programs, local donors Gary, Sue Ann and Katy Nelson donated the balance in memory of their son and brother, David Nelson, a former Hart District student.
WiSH has been touched by their generosity as they give back to our students in their son’s name. All five culinary arts programs in the junior highs will now have updated textbooks reflecting current food science and our long video production WiSH list will also see benefits from this grant as Rio Norte Junior High receives a new teleprompter.
Providing our students with the tools to learn is of the greatest importance to WiSH and we are very grateful to our own Los Angeles Clippers for making a significant difference in public education!
WiSH supports programs and initiatives in the Hart District that are not funded by tax dollars alone. Grant funding is an integral part of any foundation’s budget and WiSH has been very successful because we have a great mission and we make a difference in the classrooms.
Unfortunately, the WiSH Education Foundation lost the underwriter for our grant program. If your company is willing to help us continue this program through your donation and sponsorship, we would be greatly appreciative! Please contact Executive Director Amy Daniels at wish@hartdistrict.org. Find out more about WiSH and our upcoming events and news at www.wishscv.org.
