Harry Potter Children’s Book Club
The Children’s Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Valencia Library starting Jan. 17, 2012.
The first book will be Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and each month we will talk about the next book in the series.
Participants will need to read the book before the meeting so that we can have a lively discussion.
Sign-ups for the first meeting will be at the Children’s Reference Desk starting in December and will continue until all the spots have been filled. Ages 8-12.

Feb. 21 – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
March 20 – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
April 17 – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
May 15 – Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The Science Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Valencia Library starting Jan. 18, 2012.
Do you want to know how the steam engine changed the world or how images are captured by cameras? Come explore books about science, technology and inventions. 4th grade and up.
Jan. 18 – How steam changed the world
Feb. 15 – The light bulb from glowing wires to Light Emitting Diodes
March 21 – The telephone from Bell to Verizon and beyond
April 18 – Tele- and Microscopes from simple lenses to Nanos and Hubble
May 16 – The Camera from Daguerre to Digital
