Deputies confiscated a substantial amount of narcotics and arrested a 25-year-old man on Tuesday in Canyon Country after a seemingly routine traffic stop.
The driver, Moises Marroquin, a male Hispanic, was pulled over around 1 p.m. on Sand Canyon near the 14 freeway for vehicle code violations. He was found to be unlicensed and was detained and his vehicle searched.
Seeing indications of drug activity inside the car, deputies called for a narcotics canine. The canine unit responded and during a search of the vehicle, the dog found narcotics hidden inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Approximately one kilogram of cocaine and a half-kilogram of methamphetamine were recovered by deputies.
Marroquin was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station on suspicion of possession for sales of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as transportation of cocaine and methamphetamine. He is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley station on a no-bail hold.
