The City of Santa Clarita will install a new steel bridge to replace an older structure within the south Valencia paseo system at Carrizo Drive near the Valencia Valley Elementary School starting Monday, Nov. 5.
Weather permitting, the pedestrian bridge across Carrizo Drive is expected to be closed for about 10 weeks. During the demolition of the existing bridge, Carrizo Drive east of Moreno Drive will be closed on Tuesday, November 6 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The installation of the new steel bridge will also require Carrizo Drive to be closed for one day. Residents should expect periodic construction noises and lane closures during construction, and are advised to take alternate routes around Carrizo Drive.
The construction project is part of the City’s efforts to upgrade the paseo infrastructure to maintain the area’s high quality bridges and trails. Nearby residents were provided with construction notices with details of the project and contact information. Signage was also posted along the paseos and at the bridge approaches.
For more information about the construction of the new paseo bridge, please contact Engineering Consultant Monica Heredia at 661-255-4332.
