Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital held a special dedication ceremony Tuesday to honor the Gump family in appreciation of its many years of providing holiday joy to the Santa Clarita Valley community.
For the past 27 years, Andy Gump Inc., has generously donated the time and materials to help with the hospital’s annual Community Tree Lighting celebration on the hospital’s campus on McBean Parkway.
A special plaque recognizing the Gumps has been placed in front of the new holiday tree, a Mondale pine, which stands directly in front of the main hospital building.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Barry and Nancy Gump of Andy Gump, Inc., and their employees, and to electrician Bud Rose and the many other volunteers who donated their time, talent, and resources to make this special tradition a success,” said C.R. “Bob” Hudson, Chief Financial Officer at Henry Mayo.
Due to construction this year, there will not be a tree lighting event at Henry Mayo.

The Henry Mayo Christmas Tree lighting was a tradition with my family for 23 of the 27 years. We planned a Christmas party around it and it will be soo missed.. Coming home from work and seeing the huge Tree… Well you knew it was that special time of year..the flyer to sponsor a ornament or light bulb did not come in the mail this year and by the time questions were raised about what happened…. The tree that was supposed to take the place in Old town Newhall was already lit Nov 9 2013….seems so early…so we missed it….
