Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that the Department of Public Social Services issued over $50 million in welfare and food stamp benefits for illegal alien parents for their native-born children in May.
The $50 million consisted of nearly $19 million in CalWORKs (welfare) and $31 million in CalFresh (food stamps) – following an ongoing trend with $50 million being spent each month.
More than 20 percent of the County’s public welfare funds are spent on illegal immigrants, totaling more than $600 million annually. This does not include the $550 million spent on public safety, nearly $500 million on healthcare, and hundreds of millions spent on education.
“Illegal immigration continues to cost County taxpayers nearly $2 billion dollars a year and siphons resources away from vital municipal services for legal immigrants and county residents,” said Supervisor Antonovich.

I’m confused….Antonovich are you proud of this?
Give these people green cards and make them work if they’re going to live here! Get them out of the system and make them work for a living instead of Californians working for them!
Not at all Pam. In the full article on the link he says “Illegal immigration continues to cost County taxpayers nearly $2 billion dollars a year and siphons resources away from vital municipal services for legal immigrants and county residents,” said Supervisor Antonovich.
According to the census, there won’t be enough funds to pay your County benefits & pension! Educate them and give them jobs!
Send them all back, especially since they have one of our Marines. We will trade a few thousand for him
Yet our military & veterans get below poverty wages…
Kim so do our seniors :/
Were all illegal
We need to stop this drain! Let the non-profits take care of them and maybe the tsunami across our boarders will stop!!!
When are we going to help out own people? Veterans seniors ect… I want free food and health care!
This state is too liberal and then whines about not having money for the needs of our legal residents. The businesses are leaving ca. Sooo, you liberal do gooders need to remember to get rid of the liberals in state and federal gov. Or stop whining!
The people on welfare are using the system and they think being on welfare is a career now and tax payers like us we get to support them isn’t that great . That is why california and all the other States don’t have any money . They should stop the welfare system and make everyone get a JOB is not that hard people to get a job , also they all should learn ENGLISH this is AMERICA IT’S THE LAND OF FREEDOM NOT FREE MONEY FOR EVERYONE THAT WANTS TO COME HERE AND FOR THOSE THAT ARE BORN AND RAISED HER
I’m wondering what the TOTAL was for May? If 50 million went on illegal immigrants, I bet the total is in the 100th millions range and antonovich is trying to cloud us with “illegal immigrants taking all our money” so that we don’t question all the cash going on all the lazy people that take advantage and the politicians. Bottom line our tax dollars are in the wrong hands from the start.
