The Santa Clarita Philharmonic, led by music director Jeffrey Gilbert, announces the third and final concert of the 2015-2016 season on Sunday, May 15 at 3p.m.
There will be an art exhibition by the ARTree Community Art Center at 2 p.m. with photographic, acrylic, water color and pastel pieces to be displayed by local professional and student artists before the concert.
The concert will feature the winner of the orchestra’s second Student Concerto Competition in which junior and senior high school students were invited to apply for the opportunity to perform with the orchestra. The winner of the competitive auditions was Audrey Park, an incredibly talented 13 year old, who will be playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor.
In addition, the orchestra will be performing an original composition by Sarah Wallin-Huff, our concertmaster. The piece demonstrates how contemporary music can be melodic and inspiring. The orchestra will also be performing Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Haydn’s Symphony 45, the Farewell Symphony.
The concert is free to the public. Meet the philharmonic’s amazing local musicians who love what they do.
The concert will be held at the Hart High Auditorium, on 24825 North Newhall Avenue. The ARTree Exhibit is open at 2p.m. and the concert begins at 3 p.m.
