The Lifton Institute of Media Arts & Sciences will launch their VET 50 program with a red carpet gala at their studio lot.

Guests will enjoy a fashion show, complimentary drinks and a surprise performance that will display the acting, production and on-set skills military veterans can learn through VET 50 training.

The LIMS Red Carpet Gala Event: VET 50 will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016. 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the LIMS Studio Lot on 27567 Fantastic Lane, Santa Clarita Valley, CA 91384

VET 50 is an immersive 12-week program that gives military veterans roles on a film set from day one. Participating veterans choose the training they want to receive – whether in acting, production management, visual effects or other disciplines – and work alongside an experienced team of industry professionals to create a feature-length film.

The program is open to all military veterans, but aims to make the biggest impact among the nearly 13,000 homeless veterans living in California.

“Veterans’ difficulties finding secure and fulfilling jobs after their service is a well-documented issue. But too little is done to give our service men and women the specialized training they need to be competitive in more demanding industries like the film, television and music industries, where their training can make them particularly valuable team members,” said Jimmy Lifton, president of the LIMS.

50 veterans participate in each 12-week program. Along with job training they are provided free food and transportation to and from the Lifton Institute studio lot.

Students spend eight to 12 hours on set each day, with the first four weeks of the program spent preparing for production, and the last eight weeks applying the skills they’ve learned under the direction of the VET 50 team. Following completion of the VET 50 program, students are given an IMDB credit for their work and also receive job placement assistance from LIMS.
