Celebrate the benefits of vaccination during August, National Immunization Awareness Month.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services holds this national health observance every August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages.
Each week of NIAM focuses on a different stage of the human lifespan:
July 31-August 6: Babies and Young Children — A healthy start begins with on-time vaccinations
August 7-13: Pregnant Women — Protect yourself and pass protection on to your baby
August 14-20: Adults — Vaccines are not just for kids
August 21-27: Preteens and Teens — Ensure a healthy future with vaccines
Spreading the word is easy. The 2017 NIAM Toolkit, which was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Public Health Information Coalition, includes sample key messages, media materials, social media messages, FAQs, and resources you can use to support the observance. You may also join the celebration on social media using the #NIAM17 hashtag.
