The New Mexican is a one-man band. He plays numerous instruments to create his alt-folk style.

Comedy by Chris Cope
Comedian Chris Cope is new to L.A, and the City of Angels has been great to Chris thus far. In his short time in town, Chris has appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Laughs on Fox , Tosh.0 and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Storytelling by Victoria Sayeg
Victoria Sayeg is a freelance writer, poet, director and producer from Los Angeles. Sayeg was invited to open the 2014 Buddy Wakefield World Tour, performing her poem “Moonstone” in Thousand Oaks.

Short Film: C’EST JANE
Written and Directed by Jason Oliver Silva, C’EST JANE is a poetic look at who we really are beneath the person we present to the rest of the world. In a feature article by Nylon magazine, the director stated, “I wanted to take the trope of a dangerous female agent and peel back the elements of convention.”

Music by Steven Kai van Betten
Steven Kai van van Betten is a guitarist/composer/improviser who is actively involved in the Los Angeles creative music scene. He performs and records regularly with many groups.

Storytelling by Pablo Marz
Pablo Marz is an actor, storyteller, director and teacher. Aside from film and TV, Pablo has performed with West Coast Ensemble Theatre, at the Disney Concert Hall, at the Getty Center, and more.

Magic by Scott Marshall
Scott Marshall’s act can be found in shows and private events all over the country, including the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Comedy by Darell Davie
Darell is from “The Depths of The Suburbs” Santa Clarita, aka The Suburbs. He grew up playing basketball and loved stand-up comedy. He pretends like he is from the streets, but he is not.

Music by Burton Zimmer
Burton Zimmer began his music career at age 15. His influences were Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Beck, Freddie and Albert King, and many more. He has played most of the clubs in the Los Angeles music scene.

Alex M. Stein is a writer, documentary filmmaker, and storyteller living in Los Angeles.

Dance to the beat, play an instrument, and experience something unexpected with JAM Sessions, fun, interactive music and dance events hosted in conjunction with the Ford Theatre Foundation. The evening integrates live dance instruction from professional instructors with live band performances.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring a chair if you just plan on listening to the music. JAM Sessions are participatory and centered around movement and music. All JAMs are FREE, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

This month’s theme is Caribbean Dance.

Move your body to the island beat! Combining soca, dance hall, punta, and African dance styles, Betty Rox will lead you on a cultural journey of the islands of Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Barbados. Live music from Detour Posse, who create a high-energy, melodic blend of Roots Reggae, DanceHall, Lovers Rock, Ska, R&B and Funk that is guaranteed to inspire lots of dancing in any audience.

Back for the 18th exciting year, the Valencia Jazz & Blues Series continues to create an incredible atmosphere in downtown Valencia. Every Friday evening, over eight weeks, the Santa Clarita Valley is filled with the extraordinary sounds from some of the top Jazz and Blues recording artists in the world. Each week provides entertainment and fun for the whole family, including special food and beverages, activities for the kids and fundraising for local charities, while highlighting the local business Sponsors that make it all possible. These events offer a safe and festive atmosphere for our guests contributing to the incredible quality of life in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Opening night will feature a special celebration with a smoking hot Latin Jazz Dance party featuring the critically acclaimed Susie Hansen Latin Band.

Susie Hansen, an Electric violinist and vocalist fronts this sizzling Salsa band playing fiery Afro-Cuban salsa and Latin jazz. A long-time favorite in Los Angeles for more than 25 years, Susie and her band have toured nationally, playing around 150 live performances each year, including for such events as the Playboy Jazz Festival, Fiesta Broadway, San Jose Jazz Festival and Newport Beach Jazz Festival, first appearing at the Valencia Jazz and Blues Concert Series in 2016.

In addition to great music, our dance sponsors, D’Wilfri Dance & Entertainment will bring their talented Latin Dance troupe to perform, followed by informal dancing instruction with our audience.

Comedy MashUp is a night of stand up and improv comedy mashed up into one hilarious show! This month’s show is a Summer Movie Blockbuster featuring an hour long improv with “Your Favorite Cast,” who will create the best live summer movie blockbuster based on audience suggestions. Like any good movie experience, guests will enjoy complimentary candy and popcorn and be treated to three comedic trailers (comedians)—Ashley Johnson, a regular at The HaHa; Frank Lucero, a regular at Pasadena Ice House; and TBD, a Santa Clarita native.
Comedy Mashup co-creators, Paul Dison and Dan Fowble, will serve as host and DJ similar to many late night shows. You won’t want to miss this animated and energetic evening.
