Yes, we know. This photo is nowhere near recent. We just thought you might like to be able to show the kids what “rainwater” used to look like. File photo by Denny Trueger.
The Placerita Canyon Riparian Habitat Restoration project will help protect and preserve the delicate ecosystem of the Placerita Canyon Creek crucial to the survival of diverse native species found near the vital water source. It creates a buffer zone to reduce negative impacts on the habitat, installation of two bridges that will raise the trail in two locations, and planting of native riparian species that have been lost, as well as removal of non-native species.
Also, planned for the Heritage Trail, the proposed Golden Braille Trail will include several features including installation of an orientation area with benches and Braille signage describing the trail; audio elements; curb guides allowing the visually-impaired to independently navigate the path; planting of fragrant and brightly colored native flora; high-contrast and Braille interpretive signs and interpretive opportunities through self-guided signage; and strategically placed points of interest.
