KISS

The American literary classic, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, from the novel by Harper Lee and Sponsored by Mission View Public Schools will make its debut on The REP stage beginning May 10.

Set in Alabama during the Great Depression, “To Kill a Mockingbird” follows the journey of Jem and Scout Finch, whose father has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he didn’t commit. As the trial progresses, Jem and Scout witness their community in a tense tug of war between justice and racism. This timeless classic compels us to take an honest look at our nation’s past and our moral responsibility to each other.

“This is a rare and engaging piece of theatre. This is why as artists, we do theatre. So we can tell stories like Mockingbird. The story offers hope for a better future.” says Artistic Director Mikee Schwinn.

The REP will create the Equality and Education Exhibit in association with their production of “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Funded by a grant from The City of Santa Clarita, The Equality and Education Exhibit will be focused around an educational center that will celebrate and educate cultural differences from people of all backgrounds across the United States, primarily focusing on the racial inequalities of the past century in America.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” will run May 10 through June 15 Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for students and seniors. Group rates are available. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. For tickets, purchase online at www.repeastplayhouse.org or call 661-288-0000.
