fataltcAuthorities are reporting that a crash involving two trucks and a motorcycle in Canyon Country has resulted in a fatality.

The collision occurred Wednesday at about 7 a.m. on the northbound side of Sierra Highway at Sand Canyon Road.

One patient was treated at the scene and one patient was dead upon arrival of the emergency responders, said Inspector Randall Wright of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

In a Facebook post, an Agua Dulce resident said her boyfriend was driving the second truck. She said a woman who was driving the first truck, a dually (a truck with two sets of wheels in the rear), ran a red light. She said the woman struck and killed a man on a motorcycle who was making a legal left-hand turn. She said the woman then collided head-on with her boyfriend’s truck, which she described as a work truck.

The crash was reported around 7:02 a.m. and emergency crews were on scene by 7:07 a.m.

A Sigalert was issued at 8:22 a.m. for four hours.

Portions of Sand Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country are expected to remain closed until noon.

This is why I ride with my brights on in the day time, and wear neon. Yet people still look right at me and proceed to try to run me over.

    • That is so inconsiderate! Most motorcycle riders I see do wear bright colors, Have their lights on and are watching around them. Least we in cars can do is courtesy on the road, geez, what is wrong with people? I have never understood the bad attitude towards motorcycle riders, especially in SoCal of all places!

    • Mike Petett Mike Petett says:

Oh some of them deserve the bad reputation. But not all do. I don’t even split lanes at red lights, except the time I was getting away from a psychotic former friend. I don’t need respect from other drivers, but I don’t need to get killed by their carelessness/stupidity/cell phone, or whatever the case may be. I have a mother and daughter that kinda like having me around.

    • Dan Conner Dan Conner says:

I wanna have this quote put on a tshirt.. I rode from Scv to Hollywood this morning at 7a and home from there at 5:30p.. I swear this is the caption of the whole 75 mile ride.. It’s funny but at the same time it’s scary as f*** out there..

    • Mike Petett Mike Petett says:

I’ve been finding myself having less tolerance for drivers on the phone as well.

  13. Collin Fowler – this was the reason Sierra Highway was closed this morning.

  14. Steven Craig Steven Craig says:

Always crazy right there. Nobody cares because the chp which covers that spot doesn’t care. Never any enforcement there. I surprised it doesn’t happen to more people honestly.

    • Mike Petett Mike Petett says:

Agreed! I’ve personally seen people fly over the double yellow lines to pass people going 500mph on a blind turn, and CHP just watches it happen and doesn’t do crap about it. I’ve complained to CHP about it but they ignore it.

  15. Sheila Lopez Sheila Lopez says:

My husband saw this.. this morning before they covered up the scene not much will affect my husband but needless to say when I talked to him thins morning he was in shock and dumbfounded prayers to the family’s and all involved :'(

  16. I live at that corner there are always accidents there. People never slow down even during school time since mint Canyon is right there.

  17. Mario Mardo Mario Mardo says:

Cell phones are a big factor in a lot of accidents too. I hope this one wasn’t but regardless, stay off cell phones while in the car please.

  18. The lady never tried to stop to avoid the bike nor my boyfriend’s truck. She wasn’t going slow either.

  19. Lisa McCloskey says:

  23. Craig says:

It was sad. I live right there. He was decapitated. Worst thing I have ever seen . Drivers think this is a freeway. Got news for you. It isn’t. Slow down

  24. Tim Bonino Tim Bonino says:

The lady ran the red light! Smashing the motorcycle between the other truck. The rider was decap. R.I.P!!

  25. J says:

It happened outside my residence. I didnt realize it was so close. I happened to walk to the store and made the mistake of looking that way and saw the blue tarp in the street and a red helmut. I was traumatized and disturbed that this sole lost his life, took hours for a coroner to show up, but most disturbing were the gawkers and picture takers. God Bless to the families and loved ones. I am saddened that people felt the need to snap pictures of someones end of life. Why?

  26. bobralph says:

Hey, I’m not a local. Can someone tell me what happened?

  27. Nicole says:

    r.i.p.<|3

  28. Shirley says:

People need to slow down, put down the cell phones, the make-up and pay attention to their damn driving. I pray for the person who lost their life because of the dumb woman who was in a hurry.

  29. This sad part is his son died 15 years ago on a motorcycle RIP Art prayers to your wife.

  30. Please watch out for bikers as you drive . So tragic. I ride myself , my friends and family rides and some drivers are just so careless . We all share the road . No texting and driving

  31. Sylvia says:

That was my brother on the motorcycle and he was cleared 100% !! He was making a LEGAL left turn and that woman ran the red light and hit him. We are devastated as is my 85 year old mom and his two children. Please pray for us.

  32. Amber R says:

This is horrible and I’m wondering what caused the decapitation. Did some part of the truck (such as the side mirror) hit the biker’s head, severing it? Also, does anyone know if criminal charges will be brought up against the driver of the dually? At the least, I would think there would be Gross Negligence or Involuntary Manslaughter charges brought against the person. She ran a red light!

  33. Lorie says:

prayers for everyone involved. This was especially horrific for the emergency services workers involved. God bless them.

they haven’t released a name, but I heard it was a 57 year old man who works for AT&T on his way to work. Prayers for comfort for all affected.

  34. Sandy says:

Does anyone know what happened to the woman who ran the red light in this situation?
It seems there is no follow-up on what kind of penalty she had to pay besides “living” with this tragic death.

    Thanks.
