The USC men’s and women’s track teams will begin the 2016 indoor season this weekend at the UW Indoor Preview being held in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 16. Twenty-five of the traveling Trojans are either freshmen or sophomores.
The women’s team begins the campaign ranked No. 7 and set to compete this weekend are senior Katerina Berdousi, junior Destinee Brown, sophomore Gabriella Cantrell, redshirt sophomore Rebecca Ent, sophomore Kendall Ellis, senior Alexis Faulknor, freshman Rachel Glynn, freshman Jasmyne Graham, sophomore Deanna Hill, junior Amalie Iuel, freshman Margaux Jones, freshman Lyndsey Lopes, senior Tera Novy, junior Cameron Pettigrew, sophomore Madisen Richards, junior Tanya Sapa, freshman Taylor Seamans, senior Jaide Stepter, senior Jenna Tong and freshman Jordan Winters.
Traveling to kick-off the 2016 indoor season for the men’s team are sophomore Mitchell Cameron, redshirt freshmanZyaire Clemes, sophomore Randall Cunningham, freshman Dominic Davis, sophomore Robert Ford, sophomoreAdoree’ Jackson, freshman Nicolaus Jakowec, freshman Matthew Katnik, sophomore Ricky Morgan Jr., sophomore Marquis Morris, sophomore Nick Ponzio, freshman Trent Rule, junior Eric Sloan, sophomore Dominic Smallwood, senior Just’N Thymes and sophomore Jordon Wallin.
This weekend begins what is expected to be an outstanding track and field season or the Trojans. The indoor campaign runs through the NCAA Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala., but the Trojans will be in action nearly every week through August as the outdoor season runs March 18-June 11, followed by the USA Junior Championships, Olympic Trials and the 2016 Olympics.
Sadly, one Trojan who will not be able to compete this season is All-American hurdler and USC freshman and World Junior record-holder Dior Hall. The sophomore Hall injured her left ACL while training in Colorado over the holidays and had season-ending surgery to repair the ligament on Jan. 5. The surgery was performed by Seth Gamradt MD at Keck USC Hospital.
