Two deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station helped an 11-year-old boy locate his missing backpack Wednesday afternoon.
Deputy Adam Halloran and Deputy Nathan Gillespie were patrolling in Canyon Country Wednesday afternoon when they spotted a visibly upset school-aged boy crossing the street.
“You could see from the look on his face he was distraught,” said Halloran.
Concerned, the deputies talked to the boy through the car window and inquired if he was OK, to which the boy responded no, said Halloran.
The boy told the deputies that he had accidentally left his backpack containing his money and school supplies on a Santa Clarita Transit bus.
The deputies immediately contacted the bus dispatch center to determine the location of the bus.
“The boy actually remembered the bus number,” said Halloran. “He was really happy and surprised he got it back.”
Halloran and Gillespie then drove over to the location, retrieved the forgotten backpack, and reunited it with one very grateful 11-year-old.
“Honestly, there’s a lot of opportunities for us to help people,” said Halloran. “Since it was a little boy, it affected my partner and I a bit more.”

Yay!! As a parent I can only imagine his dread to go to his parents and tell him he lost his items. So happy for him.
Sera que cuando no encuentro mis llaves, puedo llamarles para que me ayuden??

I for one know Deputy Halloran has done a lot of “great” things in this city that go unrecognized to the public! And Deputy Gillespie too!

Awesome, guys. Good job. That boy will remember you forever.
Best story in a long time.
We all can relate with the young man and his state of despair. The deputies attitudes remind us of the good men and women who are committed to Protect and Serve each of us. Great place to live.
Yay!! Very nice guys! This is my lovely town ❤️
Great story–nice work, Officers!
????
“my partner and ME!” Sorry guys, great job, but lousy grammar. How to tell? Just take out the other guy and you’ll know whether is should be “me” or “I.”
Could have been “me and my partner” :)
