Four County of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation facilities are closed until further notice as a result of damage from Wednesday night’s severe windstorms. Descanso Gardens in La Canada and Arcadia Park, Santa Anita Golf Course and Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia are closed to the public. The public is encouraged to stay away from the parks to avoid dangers inherent in downed power lines, downed trees and possible loose branches from trees. The Department of Parks and Recreation tree crews are working around the clock to clean up areas and resume safe environments for kids, adults and seniors to recreate. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s personnel have been deployed to Arcadia Park to patrol the area and ensure safety.
Damages sustained at the parks include felled trees, broken power lines, building damage, branches and debris throughout.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation is working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to monitor Park conditions.
For updated information on County of Los Angeles Park closures, the public is encouraged to follow the Los Angeles County Parks Twitter and Facebook feeds at http://twitter.com/lacountyparks or http://facebook.com/parks.lacounty.gov.
