The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold an art show at William S. Hart Park on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5, to celebrate Black History Month.
Anchoring the celebration is the county’s complete collection of Genesis Legacy Projects, which are historical displays of African American, Latin and native Americans and their experiences.
The event presents an opportunity for artists in all media to display works based on the culture and history of ethnic peoples in America.
Artists are invited to submit works in a “drop-in” format. All media are accepted; there are no size restrictions and no fees. Up to seven pieces may be submitted, framed or unframed. The only caveat is that the art must be deemed suitable for public display and not deemed obscene or offensive by the show’s coordinators.
Drop-off times are Thursday and Friday, Feb. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hart Park.
Public viewing will take place Feb. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hart Hall. Admission is free.
Hart Park is located at 24151 Newhall Ave.
