A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Monday for a new outpatient care center in Lancaster that will supplant an older facility.
The new High Desert Health System Multi-Ambulatory Care Center, or MACC, will replace the existing facility that opened at the high desert hospital in 1962.
According to statement from Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s office, the new, 142,000-suqare-foot facility will include a two-story MACC building and two separate one-story service buildings with surface parking and other related improvements.
The new MACC will provide improved various outpatient medical services, including primary care, urgent care, specialty care, and outpatient surgery services for residents in the Antelope Valley, the statement said. It is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2014.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place Jan. 30 at 11:30 a.m. at 335 East Avenue I in Lancaster.
Earlier in the day, at 10 a.m., Antonovich will participate in another groundbreaking – for a new flood control project in Quartz Hill.
“This vital project will vastly improve the long-term maintenance and condition of the roads and remediate the flooding issues that plagued area residents and motorists for years,” his statement said.
