Hart High graduate Matt Moore will be the No. 2 quarterback for the Miami Dolphins when the seasons starts on Sept. 9.
Rookie Ryan Tannehill was named the starter for the season opener against the Houston Texans.
Moore, who started the final 12 games for the Dolphins last season, will be the back-up.
Moore is a six-year NFL veteran and told the Associated Press he was disappointed, but he will be ready if the team needs him.
Tannehill will be the first rookie to start at quarterback for the Dolphins since John Beck in 2007.
In women’s volleyball, The Master’s College opened the season with a win over Cal State San Marcos.
Stacey Jones had 10 kills and 10 digs for The Master’s College which downed San Marcos in four games.
Four players from The Master’s College had double figures in kills. Tori Calihan led the Lady Mustangs with 13 kills.
The Dodgers are swirling in losses again. For the second night in a row, the Dodgers offense disappeared in a 4-1 loss to the Giants.
Tim Lincecum held the Dodgers to one run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. The Dodgers have scored only two runs in the first two games of the series against the Giants.
The Dodgers are 1 ½ games behind the Giants in the National League West standings. The third and final game of the series is tonight at Dodger Stadium.
