Los Angeles County Fire Department officials declared the fire knocked down at 2:13 p.m. It was held to about one-quarter acre.
Original story:
A brush fire has broken out about one-quarter mile east of Interstate 5 near the Templin Highway exit, in the vicinity of the Paradise Ranch mobile home park.
The fire was first reported Wednesday at about 1:48 p.m. At 2:07 p.m. it was reported at one-quarter to one-half acre of grass and medium brush, burning downhill toward a creek bed, in no wind.
A heliport is being established to take water from Castaic Lake.
The California Highway Patrol initially reported that Paradise Ranch Might need to be evacuated.
It is being called the Ranch Fire.
