[KHTS] – The Golden Valley girls golf team is officially on a roll after winning its third consecutive Foothill League match.
Golden Valley won the league match by seven strokes over West Ranch, 191-198, at the El Cariso Golf Club in Sylmar.
Golden Valley sophomore Elisa Pierre shot the low round of the match for the second straight time. She was 1-over 32.
Her teammate Justine Reblando was 4-over at 35. Illeana Dullas was 5-over 36 for the Grizzlies. Golden Valley is 3-0 in league matches this season.
In college cross country, The Master’s College women moved up to No. 7 in the NAIA poll, their highest ranking in school history.
The Lady Mustangs finished in third place among non NCAA Division 1 teams at the Stanford Invitational.
Hannah Kellerman was the highest finishing runner from The Master’s College. She finished the 5-kilometer course in 23rd place in 22 minutes, 15 seconds.
Karis Frankian, a Saugus High graduate and sophomore at The Master’s College, was 42nd at the Stanford Invitational in 22 minutes, 48 seconds.
The Master’s College men’s cross country team dropped to No. 14 in the NAIA after the Stanford Invitational. The Mustangs were ranked 11th in the NAIA last week.
The Master’s College men were eighth among the non NCAA Division 1 schools.
John Hurd was the top-finishing runner from The Master’s College in 27th place. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 29 seconds.
In baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays eliminated the Cleveland Indians, 4-0, in the American League Wild-Card round of the playoffs.
Rays starter Alex Cobb held the Indians scoreless for 6 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits and striking out five.
The Rays will play the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series.
The Dodgers begin the National League Division Series in Atlanta against the Braves tonight.
Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Kris Medlen for the Braves.
