Friday night, the COC Studio Jazz Ensemble big band and the COC Lab Band feature an evening of holiday music at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. KC Manji is the band director, and Katherine Lench-Meyering is the guest vocalist. The show is also a release party for the Studio Jazz Band’s new holiday CD. And there will be a raffle with cool prizes, as the band raises funds to compete in the Reno Jazz Festival in April. Tickets for Friday night are just $10 or $5 for students and seniors. Call the box office at 661-362-5304.
Also Friday, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be hayrides and rides in the vintage KHTS fire truck in Old Town Newhall. The family-friendly event is a fundraiser for the Action Family Foundation, the non-profit that runs the Action Family Zone in Canyon Country. All proceeds help to fight substance abuse in the Santa Clarita Valley. See the Action Family Zone Facebook page for all the details.
