3. Sam Dougherty’s All-American worthy performance at the NAIA National Tournament.
Leading The Master’s College volleyball team during its historic season that culminated in the Mustangs’ second-ever NAIA National Tournament appearance, Samantha Dougherty was named to the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-American Team.
The Madera, California, native landed a spot on the second team following a campaign in which she led the Mustangs to a 23-9 record, a No. 16 national ranking, and an impressive run at the national tournament. Dougherty finished the year with 513 kills, 364 digs, 51 service aces, and 33 assists. The Mustangs’ ace also finished first in the Golden State Athletic Conference in kills and third in service aces.
