Santa Clarita Traffic Accident[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop Tuesday  on a motorcyclist who sped off and then crashed shortly afterward, according to Sheriff’s Department officials.

He was going down the road and a deputy spotted him, he was going around 100 mph,” said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The deputy pulled him over, the deputy looked at him and he just took off, and then he crashed about a minute later.”

The traffic stop reportedly took place near Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road, and the crash took place near Soledad Canyon and Camp Plenty roads, just outside the KHTS AM-1220 office.

Eddie Lopez, 33, of Santa Clarita, was taken to the hospital after the crash, and a deputy followed the ambulance.

The incident is under investigation as a possible stolen vehicle incident, although no arrest has been made at this time, officials said.

“We didn’t go in pursuit,” Hershey said, citing safety factors associated with the situation and the suspect’s speed. “The deputy did the right thing. (The driver) hit the curb or center divider and crashed after he took off.”

The extent of his injuries is not known at this time, according to Sheriff’s Station official.

I have zero respect for these thugs on road bikes , they think they own the road !!!

  10. No need to generalize. I was a courteous safe rider on my sport bike and got hit 3 times by idiots in cars not using their mirrors or them driving on the wrong side of the road. Doesn’t mean everyone in a car is an idiot.

  14. We drove past that and after seeing his bike he’s lucky he wasn’t hurt any worse than he was. What was he thinking?

  15. Also Don. If you took the time to read it, this was reported to likely be a stolen motorcycle. So it was likely not the owner anyhow.
My guess, you ride some type of Harley based motorcycle?
