Hundreds of students turned out for the 2015 DFYIT kickoff program at Canyon High School Friday morning with those students pledging to remain drug-free.
The program, led by Alexis Crane, revolved around its theme of “What I do instead…” with performances by the cheer and dance teams, a competition demonstrating the impairment effects of alcohol and the school’s drumline.
“More than 200 students signed contracts today pledging they will be drug and alcohol free,” Crane said.
Drug Free Youth In our Town (DFYIT) is presented by the City of Santa Clarita, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fifth Supervisorial District and the William S. Hart Union High School District. It is a free, school-based, voluntary, anti-drug club for high school teens.
