Sheriff’s deputies detained one person after a car chase turned foot chase in Newhall Monday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol were searching for the driver of a stolen vehicle near Newhall Avenue and the Highway 14.
At approximately 4 p.m., a California Highway Patrol officer “tried to make contact with a vehicle and two parties ran away” near the Newhall Avenue offramp on Highway 14, according to CHP officials.
The person in custody is said to be the passenger of the stolen vehicle, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies assisted the CHP by setting up a containment area near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue, said Sgt. Brian Allen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
