PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Master’s College men’s basketball team’s 2015-16 record moved to 4-15 and 1-10 in Golden State Athletic Conference play after falling to No. 22 Arizona Christian University 62-81 on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona.
“Arizona’s pressure was intense, and we didn’t always handle it well,” commented head coach Ken Sugarman. “I thought Kaleb Anderson played a great game. He is really growing as a player. Kaleb and Phil [Webb] both rebounded the ball really well, combining for 22 rebounds. We need to be more patient and work consistently for better shots. We also have to keep the ball in front of us on the perimeter defensively.”
TMC’s Kaleb Anderson highlighted the Mustangs’ efforts by posting a double-double after scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Reid Shackelford complemented Anderson by posting 12 points, while Philip Webb paced the Mustangs with 12 rebounds.
Collectively, TMC went 24-61 (40%) from the field, 3-18 (17%) from behind the arc, and 11-19 (58%) from the charity stripe.
Looking to snap its 12-game losing streak, TMC will face a tall order on Tuesday when they travel to La Mirada and look to take down No. 10 Biola University in a 7:30 p.m. tilt. The last time the two teams met was on January 9 when the Eagles beat TMC 56-46 on Bross Court.
