The Santa Clarita Planning Commission approved the “pre-zoning” of the West Creek and West Hills communities Tuesday – a step necessary for the proposed annexation of the area into the city.
The City Council is expected to consider the annexation request in April.
The zoning covers 1,018 acres of land in unincorporated county territory north of Copper Hill Drive. Included are 1,717 homes, a commercial center, an elementary school (West Creek Academy), a junior high (Rio Norte) and one park. There are also two undeveloped commercial centers and 727 approved but unbuilt homes, according to a staff report.

Tesoro. It is our turn.

Well now. It may in fact be your turn to become the latest on-your-knees-begging piece of county land that wishes to be part of the City of Santa Clarita. But you have not made any argument as to why this should happen.
You purchased a home built under County rules that had no right to become part of the City of Santa Clarita. I understand that since my home was originally purchased in County property.
My home was part of a development that completed it’s build-out and was then “offered” (aka annexed) to Santa Clarita during the early days of the City’s growth. I’ll skip the BS we had to deal with back then.
I don’t blame you; the City is much more concerned and responsive than the County could ever be (let’s just say that the pages of my ire at the county don’t really matter here.
But, why should we care about your home? Why do you say it is “your turn”? You may have purchased that property based on it’s annexation into the city. There is no law that requires it. You may hope that the desire of the City of Santa Clarita to eventually reach the boundaries denied them by SCAG will drag you into the warm and loving arms of the City.
Guess what; we don’t need you. We don’t need Vista Canyon, we don’t need your little chunk of the SCV. We do not need Newhall Ranch in any of it’s nasty overbuilding BS and damaging river impacts.
Do you really want to become part of the City of Santa Clarita? Then buy property that is already IN Santa Clarita.
Otherwise, Just buy a piece of County property and then ask Mike Antonovich to take care of you.
