If you’ve walked in the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall lately, you may have noticed what appears to be a fine restaurant. At first glance, that is. A closer look reveals that something is not quite right. At every place setting, is a small food item underneath inverted glassware. It’s not a restaurant; it’s an art installation by Forge Ahead Arts.
The piece, entitled Specimens #1: Café, asks the viewer to ponder one of our most precious commodities: the food we eat, and the journey it takes to arrive on our plates.
Mall-goer Nicole Werth reacted enthusiastically. “It was so cool to see this in the mall. It is such a good conversation starter. I hope there will be more art installations in the future!”
Don’t miss the chance to see this work, which will be up through the month of August. It is located indoors near Sears at the former entrance of Red Robin restaurant.
Forge Ahead Arts is a nonprofit arts organization in Santa Clarita. We create and produce public art installations and events that stimulate creativity and dialogue in the community.

What it is this?
It’s an art installation. Just like the post says.
