A five-car crash left one man in the hospital with minor injuries and three lanes on the northbound side of State Route 14 shut down early Friday.
The crash occurred at 3:37 a.m. when a 2004 Toyota lost control causing it to slam into a bridge abutment before ending up facing the wrong way on the freeway. Within seconds, the Toyota was struck by a 2009 Volvo tractor trailer, a 1997 Land Rover with a utility trailer, a 2016 Dodge Ram and a 2016 Lexus, according to a CHP crash report.
The Land Rover overturned and came to rest on the bridge abutment, partially hanging over the Santa Clara River, according to the report.
The 52-year-old driver of the Land Rover was taken to Henry Mayo Hospital with minor injuries and the 19-year-old driver of the Toyota also suffered minor injuries, the report said.
A sig alert was issued for the right three lanes until 5:14 a.m.
