A 23-year-old woman was arrested after she attempted to flee the scene of a hit-and-run crash that left one man in the hospital with major injuries.
Richard Romero, 50, of Santa Clarita was injured in the crash and transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.
Preliminary investigation determined the Kimberlee Paniza, of Canyon Country, made a U-Turn directly into the path of Romero. Romero collided with Paniza’s 2006 Chrysler Seabring, and ejected Romero from the motorcycle, onto the roadway, a crash report from CHP said.
Paniza attempted to flee the scene by continuing to travel southbound on Sierra Highway.
Paniza was arrested after deputies noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was arrested on DUI charges, according the report.
The incident is still under investigation.

The motorcyclist is named Richard Romero. He is my father, and he is not deceased.

Drunk driver or sober, this scenario is a very common cause of motorcycle collisions. People pull out or change lanes in front of riders, not seeing them until it’s too late.
Prayers for the injured man.
