The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Santa Clarita Valley, reporting that there will be gusty northwest to north winds across portions of the Santa Clarita Valley this afternoon into Saturday.
Increasing northwest winds will develop along the Central Coast and in southern Santa Barbara County beginning this afternoon and becoming more widespread during the evening hours. Wind advisories are in effect across the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties including the Santa Monica Mountains, and for the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys this evening into Saturday morning. Gusty winds may also affect coastal areas of Los Angeles County tonight.
Northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph will develop early this evening. Winds are expected to persist through Saturday morning before diminishing.
The winds will make driving difficult, especially motorists with high profile vehicles. Roadways affected by gusty winds will include Interstate 5 and Highway 14.
When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds.
