VISALIA – The Lancaster JetHawks dropped the series opener to the Visalia Rawhide 6-2 on Sunday evening at Recreation Park.
Visalia (47-47, 11-13) scored an unearned run in the opening frame and broke the game open with four runs in the fifth to jump out to a big lead against starter Ty Culbreth (2-0).

Culbreth, who had won his first two starts as a JetHawk, allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings.
The JetHawks (50-44, 12-12) struggled to hit with men on base and left seven runners over the first five innings.
Mylz Jones singled doubled in the ninth inning, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Soriano ground out.
Jones and Garrett Hampson each recorded multi-hit games for the JetHawks.
The series continued this morning at Recreation Park. Peter Lambert (8-7) started for the JetHawks against Bo Takahashi (5-4). First pitch was 11 a.m. See tomorrow’s SCVNews.com for the recap.
