“Fog on the Tiber – Rome,” watercolor by Thomas W. Schaller
Award-winning Santa Clarita architectural artist Thomas W. Schaller will demonstrate watercolor painting at the Santa Clarita Artists Association meeting on Monday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m.
The demonstration at Barnes & Noble, 23630 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355, will be free and open to the public.
“I’m in love with the watercolor medium,” Schaller said. “I usually describe my paintings as interpreted realism although what I paint is strictly not realistic. I believe that it is my job as an artist not to paint what I see so much as how I feel about what I see. All art is a form of storytelling and I believe that good art asks more questions than it answers.”
One of the foremost architectural artists in the world, Schaller won every major award in his field for his artwork. He’s a two-time recipient of the Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize. He authored two books: “The Architecture in Watercolor” (best-selling and AIA award of merit winner) and “The Art of Architectural Drawing.”
Schaller is in demand internationally to conduct his watercolor workshop series “The Architecture of Light,” filmed in 2015 as a series of videos and DVDs by Artist Network TV.
