On Wednesday, at approximately 7:45 AM, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 25200 block of De Wolfe Road in Newhall, regarding a man with a gun and domestic disturbance call.

Deputies arrived and contacted two victims who told them the suspect had pointed a handgun at them and threatened them during a domestic incident. This apparently stemmed from an unreported spousal assault from the previous evening, Tuesday, Dec. 5. The victims reported the suspect had numerous firearms at the location and was still inside the home.

Firearms 2Deputies surrounded the residence and made several attempts to communicate with the suspect and have him exit the residence but received no response. The Sheriff’s Department Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Enforcement Bureau (SWAT) were notified and responded. Numerous residents in the surrounding area were evacuated while Station Detectives secured a search warrant.

Firearms3At approximately 2:06 PM, communication with the suspect was made by Crisis Negotiation Team members and the suspect surrendered without incident. Detectives then served the warrant and searched the residence. They discovered 144 firearms, consisting of rifles and handguns. Detectives and firearm experts are examining the seized weapons as the investigation is continuing. It is anticipated that several rifles will be identified as being in violation of California firearms laws. The suspect, Robert Mount, M/W, age 52 remains in custody on charges of Spousal Assault, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Weapons Laws violations, with a bail of $175,000.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call LA Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or by using the website LACrimeStoppers.org.

  1. Yea, well that what happens when there is NO gun control. I bet he bought most of these at Walmart, gun shows and via internet ??

    • No dumber than you posting this!! GIF

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

Emily Reyes-Ramirez what Walmart sells guns?

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

      Chicago, Illinois
One of the strictest gun control cities in the United States….

Also one of the highest number of deaths by a firearm in the United States.

      Wanna change your answer?

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

Shane Weeks pretty much every Walmart in the Midwest, and South

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

But not in California where this guy lives and you can legally buy them out of state and bring them her.

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

Also, what’s wrong with buying a gun at a gun show?

    • James Parker James Parker says:

Have you ever seen a gun for sale at a California walmart?

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

That proves the point that gun control isn’t something that’s going to help if people are obtaining and using guns illegally. How is the government going to track down illegally obtain or distribution of firearms if they are or in the system already?

    • Yes, that’s why I mentioned it!!
Anyway…I’m only stating facts. No one on this planet should be able to have 127 guns in their possession. It’s totally RIDICULOUS.

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

Did not see California written, however, you are legally allowed to bring some firearms into the state of California. In outside state, Walmart and gun storew/show will list these guns illegal in the state of California

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

Anytime you buy a gun from walmart, a gun show or on line you still have to go through a background check, finger print and complete the waiting period. Just like a gun store so I don’t understand why it is bad to buy one from on of these ways? Someone please explain? Emily Reyes-Ramirez?

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

Unless you understand and really know about gun laws and how fire arns are LEGALLY obtained, your fear “facts” hold no water in the truth or the law.

    • I’m not saying it’s bad to buy a gun… I’m saying it’s RIDICULOUS to be able to have 127 of them.

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

Having 100 guns is no more dangerous than having 2. How may guns can someone shoot at one time anyways? Look, I get that you Emily don’t like guns but it’s not right to force you opinions on law abiding people that happen like the sport or hobby of shooting. Case in point I don’t understand why someone needs more than 2 pairs of shoes but I don’t think you.should be limited if you are legally allowed to have them.

    • Brett Lahey Brett Lahey says:

Emily Reyes-Ramirez have you every heard the term gun collector? This guy probably was. And no you cannot buy any gun from another state only certain ones and that’s to a shotgun and a hunting rifle because California has a strict gun law you cannot purchase another gun from another state. For instance a handgun in another state has a 15-round magazine California only allows 10 you cannot purchase that gun in Arizona Nevada Oregon and bring it back they will not sell it to you because of California law.

    • Brett Lahey I never said anything about buying guns from another state..that was probably Mary Cobb. I also never said I don’t like them. I just said we need a better way to control the number of guns a person could have. Yes, one gun kills in the hand of someone who wants to hurt or kill. Being able to have so many guns in my opinion, which is not “forced” on anyone much less, law abiding people, is only that, MY OPINION which last time I checked, I’m allowed under Freedom of Speech!!

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

You are protected under the Constitution for your freedom of speech… As well as gun owners are under the same constitution.

If your personal opinion is that you should have only one gun, you are protected under the Constitution to have that one gun. If I want to have a gun collection of 500, I’m protected by the same Constitution.

You can have your opinion as well as others can have their own, however, I assure you that though I’m all for gun collection and multiple fire arms, I wouldn’t force or try to pressure another to do the same.

    • Correct! Conventions, stores, and the internet are all popular places to buy products.

    • Mary Cobb Mary Cobb says:

Brett Lahey I did mention the deal about fire arm transportation but it was to someone I think who deleted their comment

    • Mary Cobb No one is forcing anyone. I am stating MY OPINION. I am not forcing or trying to “pressure another” to do anything.

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

Please, someone tell me how it is more dangerous to have 100 vs 2? Emily Reyes-Ramirez?

  2. Tina Jarvis Tina Jarvis says:

His girlfriend/wife is far from a reliable source to take her word of what happened.. Smh

  3. Beto Haro Beto Haro says:

    Nice collection…

  4. Bill Burns Bill Burns says:

This could have ended very badly for the deputies. Thank God it didn’t. Good job negotiating team.

  5. Nice collection!
    #lifegoals

  6. Richard Mace Richard Mace says:

Funny how anti gun people’s panties get all bunched up. Who cares! So what! he’s a Gun collector. Go back to snuggling with your kitty.

    • Ananda Mei Ananda Mei says:

We know some children from Newtown, Connecticut who are now deceased, and their parents … I dunno for sure, but they *might* care. Just guessing tho ??‍♀️

    • Richard Mace Richard Mace says:

Ananda Mei what the hell does that got to do with this!? Did this guy go shoot up a school? Did I miss read the article? Stay on topic!

    • Shane Weeks Shane Weeks says:

What is the problem if a law abiding citizen owns legal firearms? I lost a close friend to a woman driver. Should I hate all woman drivers by the actions of that one?

    • Liz Bilyeu Liz Bilyeu says:

Ya Dick you missed something. “The suspect, Robert Mount, M/W, age 52 remains in custody on charges of Spousal Assault, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Weapons Laws violations, with a bail of $175,000.” That bail sucks! The two of you couldn’t be more asinine!

    • Richard Mace Richard Mace says:

Liz Bilyeu look! I’m not going to stoop down to name calling like you, but it is NOT assault with a fire arm. For example he could have waved a hammer at someone and got charged with assault with a deadly weapon. I can’t hold back, your an idiot liz

    • Ananda Mei Ananda Mei says:

Richard, your panties might be all bunched up, to use your phrase of choice. ?

    • If he gets convicted of any domestic related charge, he will forever be banned from owning firearms.

  7. Valerie Rosemann.. holy crap ?

  8. When guns are life Mariela Ramirez te pillaron ???? Maryann Ayarra Navia

  9. Dan says:

I’d say that a guy with 144 guns is a much more dangerous person with just one or two guns. As for this guy, he is obviously violent, just threatened someone with a handgun and – put as nicely as I can – is mentally peculiar. Anyone living with someone like this should have the good sense to get out.

  10. Jealous of all those guns!

  11. How the hell is one person able to gather so many? Lord what a f-up country

  12. Eric Baker Eric Baker says:

So.. There’s no law against how many someone can have. Most of us have that many and more! That’s not a lot….

  13. Kaitlyn Clunich this is what I was talking about
