Sand Canyon Country Club has donated $25,000 to Triumph Foundation to support outreach that provides people who suffer paralyzing injuries with resources, grants, and recreation activities.

The contribution from Sand Canyon Country Club’s CEO Steve Kim will help support Triumph Foundation’s Newly Injured Support program and its upcoming Wheelchair Sports Festival at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex on April 28 & 29, 2018.

“We are very grateful for Sand Canyon Country Club’s donation to Triumph Foundation,” said Andrew Skinner, Executive Director of Triumph Foundation. “This sizable gift will help make the dreams and goals newly paralyzed people a reality.”

Raising capital has always been one of Skinner’s biggest obstacles. “We are a small charity, with big hearts but not the pocketbook to match,” he says. “This generous donation from Sand Canyon Country Club will allow us to help so many people.”

This is the second major donation to Triumph Foundation from Sand Canyon Country Club to support Triumph’s programs.

Triumph Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to improve the lives of people living with disabilities.

Skinner suffered a spinal cord injury in November 2004 in a snowboarding accident. Skinner has made a remarkable recovery and wants others with similar injuries to triumph like him. “I have come so far from where I was initially. Now, I am living the American dream, despite my physical impairment. I want to help others do the same.”

About Triumph Foundation
Triumph Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help children, adults, and Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury or disorders (SCI) to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.

Triumph’s services include providing Care Baskets to people who are newly paralyzed that are filled with resources and educational materials; giving grants to support people with inadequate health insurance or financial hardship to obtain necessary equipment, supplies, and services; assisting with home modifications for wheelchair accessibility; re-purposing durable medical goods; leading more than a dozen support groups; and holding over 20 annual adaptive recreational events and sponsoring wheelchair sports teams to support athletes with disabilities. Outreach and peer support is provided throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties.

Founded in 2008, the organization has touched the lives of over 5,000 individuals with disabilities, provided $500,000 in assistance to people with inadequate medical insurance and financial hardship, performed ten home and bathroom remodels, donated seven wheelchair accessible vehicles to people who did not have the means to purchase one on their own, delivered over 1,200 care baskets to people that suffered paralyzing injuries, and regularly visits 18 area hospitals and rehabilitation centers throughout Southern California.
