Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives arrested a man allegedly in possession of a gun and narcotics during a gang sweep operation in Newhall Wednesday night.
Here’s the story from the station’s Facebook page:
“Detectives from our COBRA Unit and Operation Safe Streets conducted a gang suppression operation [Wednesday] night.
“During the operation, detectives saw a male riding a bicycle on Walnut Street in Newhall. The detectives tried to contact the suspect but he started to run away. The detectives saw that the suspect had a handgun in his waistband.
“A containment was established and the suspect was located hiding in a trash can. A gun and narcotics were also found at the scene.
“Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station personnel along with OSS continually run operations in our city to combat gang activity. These operations will continue to keep the Santa Clarita Valley as one of the safest communities in California.”
