The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 266 baseball student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Two juniors and a senior represent The Master’s College: James Scott (Canyon Country, CA), Cody Harris (Lakewood, CA), and Daniel Sheaffer (Mt. Airy, N.C.).
The Mustangs concluded their regular-season schedule with a first-place finish in the Golden State Athletic Conference, and a No. 7 ranking in the NAIA. A 44-17 record included a GSAC Tournament championship and an NAIA World Series Opening Round tournament championship qualified the Mustangs for their first NAIA World Series appearance in 13 years. TMC concluded its best season in program history in an elimination game against tournament host Lewis-Clark State where it fell 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning.
To be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
