[KHTS] – Four Santa Clarita Valley teens were taken to area hospitals, and two sustained serious injuries after being ejected from a Honda Accord in a single-car crash in Saugus around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Two teens were ejected from the car, and all five occupants were described as teenagers.
The crash occurred on Newhall Ranch Road, near Valley Center Drive, where a car heading eastbound struck a pole, according to officials and witness reports.
Some of the passengers reportedly weren’t wearing seatbelts, according to officials.
Newhall Ranch Road was shut down for several hours following the crash, which is still under investigation, according to officials.
Fire Department officials followed up on two of the patients who had more severe injuries.
The crash took place about one week after the start of White Ribbon Week, which is an effort by the city and the Sheriff’s Station to encourage safe driving.
Students are given a white ribbon and asked to take a pledge to make safe choices behind the wheel.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors at this time, but the cause is still being actively investigated.
Details about the occupants’ medical conditions were not known by officials at this time.

I hope they are all ok
Sucks, my heart goes out to the parents of the 4 kids
:(
Sad
I Don’t feel bad for the teens that got hurt. They did it to themselves by not putting their seat belts on that take a whole 2 seconds. Too worried about looking cool and be dumb then their safety and others. Parents need to do a better job at telling and showing their children how important it really is. I feel bad for their families.
Real mature
Very. I’m stating how it is. Just like its real mature of them to NOT wear seat belts right?
Correct too busy “looking cool and be dumb” and then going and blaming the parents, your stupidity amazes me +1 for awesome town
Didn’t blame the parents. I said parents need to do a better job teaching them how important it is. Big difference.
This coming from the guy studying Criminal Justice…. And a young immature kid using the words “Awesome Town” haha let me know where you stand in a couple years when you complete your degree when you see many deaths with teens your age not wearing seat belts
The parents may have done just that. They may have taught their kids right from wrong and to wear their seat belts. You can make all the rules you want for kids. But as soon as they leave the house you don’t have any control over what you can’t see.
Ashley Fuentez calm down. As for ALL the occupants, they are ok.
Abu Dhabi
I am calm Zachary White. Just frustrates people don’t put into consideration their lives their friends other peoples lives or their families. I get everyone’s ok but could be a whole different situation.
Damn you’re messed up
Oh no…must find out what caused it
I agree with Ashley Fuentez they were being stupid and probably trying to race. They aren’t experienced drivers and lost control probably. Its their own stupid decisions that got them hurt.
They are alive and probably walking away with a valuable lesson they will carry with them the rest of their lives right? Thank God. Were we all perfect as teenagers? Nope. Glad Facebook wasn’t around then for people who don’t know me to bash my mistakes as a young kid.
Corinne Elizabeth Mulligan
Oh, no! Let’s pray for these teens.
Well one is in a coma and the other have just just had some broken bones. Pray for them
Who is it?
16th and 18th with the driver license it’s to young to they have??? They’re not older enough to be an adult even though is 18th?
Shawn Mostafania
Lesson learned the hard way for these young ladies but 2 questions :
1. Weren’t they out past “curfew?”
2. Did driver have her license long enough (the year stated by law) to have friends in car?
My guess is 1. Yes and 2. No. I believe they were headed to a party in which case, maybe this accident saved their lives. Who knows what would’ve happened had they reached the party, drank and then drive home. Our valley may have just had to bury 5 more children. I pray that they have learned a lesson and will recover from their injuries.
I feel for their parents it’s my worst nightmare .. Hope they learned their lesson
Those were the same questions I had. I feel for their parents and hope everyone, including the parents, follow any rules that may have been circumvented here in the future. Best for all their recoveries.
Lucas Jordan my husband responded to that call and was wondering their status. Is that fact or hearsay? Do you know any of them?
Melissa my husband is LaCoFd too, tell him thank you for us!
I’m so thankful that these girls are pulling through. Let us not judge them and be grateful that they’re still alive. I’m certain they all wish thing could have been done differently and that’s something they have to deal with. I’m sure this has been a life lesson for them.
To the girls: Please consider being an advocate for safe driving. Share your story, you may help save someone else’s life.
Kelly Watson is in a coma. She went to Pinetree. She is a 10 th grader
They weren’t trying to race anyone. The driver was being reckless, going over 80 mph in a 55. She was swerving and not paying attention to the road. No one was racing, no one was drunk, and no one was trying to “look cool.” Don’t assume things.
Katrina you were not there, you do not know the facts, please stop spreading rumors
Pardon me? I’m best friends with the girl who got injured the worst, don’t tell me I don’t know what happened. I’ve been at the hospital since the moment I got the call, I do know the facts thanks.
Prayers to all the families involved
Probably racing if no drugs or alcohol was involved.
I agree Abu Dhabi You don’t need to read these ignorant comments. People have no clue what they are talking about and no business projecting and guessing at what happened. These comments are insensitive and the people saying them are not considering how they would feel if it was their own family in that car. Accidents happen and its not always drugs or racing or being reckless that caused them.
People stop assuming things and creating rumors that are not true. Please pray for everyone involved. There were no drugs racing or misconduct. No laws were broken. Accidents are accidents and blaming these girls help no one. Lots of prayers going out to all the girls and their families
So sad. Some of the comments on here left by people. Especially this Ashley person. If you can’t show support for the family and friends that are hurting and in desperate need of support, just keep your comments to yourself. My daughter is having a very hard time right now as her best friends little sister is one of the girls ejected from the car and is not doing well. You are a heartless person. I’m sorry your life is so miserable you have to try and make others miserable.
FYI I said I felt bad for their families. That’s showing support. No where did I wish them harm. I don’t have to keep my comments to myself I can speak freely. I understand due to choices those teens made their friends and families are in deep pain. Again like I stated before I feel bad for them ( parents family and friends). How does that make me a heartless person? Everyone has consequences by the choices they make. No need to go after my character. People especially teens in a city that just had the white ribbon week should have and be careful. I didn’t make one person miserable if you can’t handle others opinions that’s on you!
I saw it they took out three street lights … Ouch
Rob you were not there, do not spread rumors for shock factor, it is unkind and mean
I saw it they took out three street lights … Ouch
Three street lights dude seriously
Three street lights dude seriously
If you don’t know facts don’t comment wasn’t even the drivers fault. Stop spreading rumors people
They hit 1 street light this is what I mean by rumors people
I was at the hospital when one of the girls was being released. I overheard her tell someone that the driver was going over 100mph. An exaggeration? Maybe. But, obviously speed was a contributing factor. It’s so sad, with all the education about reckless driving, that these unnecessary accidents still happen. They are lucky they are still alive. I hope they all recover ok.
Valerie that is an incorrect statement, please do not spread rumors about the speed that are not true, it is causing more harm than good.
Everyone needs to stop assuming that every time a teenager gets into a car accident they were automatically drinking or doing drugs or racing or speeding. If you don’t have the actual facts then you really should just keep your opinions to yourself. Overhearing a conversation from someone else doesn’t even
Necessarily mean they were talking about this exact accident or even that they knew what they were talking about. Most accidents happen so fast the even the driver has no clue what happened so everyone needs to stop being so hypocritical about t
Everyone in here need to stop arguing and fighting just send your prayers to the teenagers and family.
Prayers and positive thoughts are ALL any of these girls and their family need.
NO, alcohol was not involved, NO, they were not racing, and NO laws were broken.
And like many of the people who actually know the girls involved, please listen to us and stop coming up with assumptions.
This was a innocent ACCIDENT.
For some reason, teenagers never learn from past history! What a shame…
Agreed Erin Anderson
Sad prayers
That is scary. I hope speed or texting was not involved and everyone heals quick.
Once again, please keep your comments positive, you are hurting all involved while they are trying to heal, prayers are welcome and good wishes, not assumptions and rumors, they are causing the families stress, I understand freedom of speech, but to make a forum where people can be just as horrible and rude as bullies shouldn’t be allowed. If any crime was committed it should be the way some of you are all behaving. Please I am requesting people look deep inside and use the goodness you have to pray for these girls not be mean. It will go farther for healing for all involved. Thank you
I don’t hear anything about personal accountability here. Either for the parents or the teens. Then I wonder why we are turning out to be the teen accident capital of the world. What a shame.
I just want to Punch these morons in the face. It was an accident, the real crime is how horrible you people are acting for crying out loud!
