Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
With the weather heating up for summer the residents of Saugus will be enjoying the outdoors with their families. Unfortunately, the summer months are also a time where we see an increase in crime. Please take the extra precautions to make sure your cars are locked and all items of value are taken with you when leaving your vehicle unattended. Please remember to close and lock your garage doors. There have been crime trends in the past where high end bikes and other items of value were taken out of open garages, even when the residents were home. The best way to prevent from being a victim of these types of crimes is to not give the criminal a chance in the first place.
There were only three Part-1 crimes reported this past week in Saugus. There was a residential burglary in the 22427 block of Circle J Ranch Drive between Saturday, 04/27/2013 and Sunday, 04/28/2013. Person(s) unknown entered the residence and stole tools, sports equipment and miscellaneous personal items. The case is being investigated.
There was a vehicle burglary in the 27600 block of Susan Beth Way early Friday morning, 04/26/2013. Person(s) unknown broke the door handle and stole the victims radio from his dashboard. A fingerprint technician will be responding.
There was an assault with a deadly weapon in the 22300 block of Cardiff Drive on Monday, 04/22/2013. The suspect confronted the victim in front of his residence. After a verbal disagreement the suspect hit the victim in the head with a hammer. The victim then fled the location. Deputies searched the area and located the suspect. He was arrested without incident. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for his injuries
There were multiple arrests made in the Saugus area over the past week. The arrests included possession of a controlled substance, spousal assault, DUI, and assault. Please keep being proactive residents and report any criminal activity in your area. With your help we can keep the crime rate down and send a “not in our neighborhood” message to the criminals.
